Law degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (1974).
First class honours degree from the Universitat de les Illes Balears.
In 1974 he registered as a lawyer.
In 1987 he teamed up with Josep Melià and founded the firm Melià & Capellà.
Founder of the firm Bufete Capellà.
In October 1986 was named vice-president of the Social Council of the Universitat de les Illes Balears, a post he held until 1990.
On October 18, 1999 he was appointed President of “Sa Nostra” Caixa de Balears, a post he held until January 23, 2002.
On March 15, 2000 he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Confederación Española de Cajas de Ahorro (CECA), a position he held until February 20, 2002.
On September 28, 2001 he was appointed President of the European Federation of Building Societies.
On February 22, 2006 he was appointed Honorary Consul of the República de Croacia in the Balearic Islands.
